The rooms were compact and reasonably spacious with super clean shared bathrooms. Location: the hotel was short walk to sights, public transport and eateries as well as the center of Nara.

I had the dormitory room which was quiet and compact.

A cozy old house with lots of history, perfect for those who like to live in the past. The storage space was a bonus, now I can bring even more unnecessary luggage next time. And for the low price of JPY 500 per day, I had the privilege of parking my car right next to the house.
Vegetarian meals upon request? No thanks, I'd rather stick to my juicy steaks.

My stay at Guesthouse Tamura was a delightful experience. The location was perfect, just a short walk away from all the main attractions. The traditional Japanese breakfast provided was not only delicious, but beautifully presented. The owner was incredibly friendly and helpful, making communication easy even with my limited Japanese. The house itself had a cozy and homely atmosphere, giving me a true sense of staying in a traditional Japanese home. Despite the small room size, it had all the amenities I needed for a comfortable stay. I highly recommend Guesthouse Tamura for its warm hospitality and convenient location.

I had a wonderful stay at Guesthouse Tamura for two nights. The hosts were accommodating and friendly, making me feel welcome even though I was the only non-Japanese guest. They serve a delicious and generous traditional Japanese breakfast for a great price. The location is perfect, right next to the deer park and close to all the attractions. The guesthouse has a peaceful garden and provides bikes for exploring the charming streets of Naramachi. a fantastic place to experience Japanese lifestyle.
Strongly recommend this hotel.

The room was absolutely stunning, with a spacious layout and a breathtaking view of a private garden. It was a true oasis of tranquility. The location was also a major plus, as it was conveniently located within walking distance of all the major attractions, as well as the main shopping and restaurant areas. Another advantage was the delicious and healthy breakfast available for an extra $5. It was the perfect way to start the day.
The limited space in the common areas, especially when the hosts and other guests were around. It could feel a bit crowded and intrusive at times.
